One of the many alliances to be built out of the ashes of the Continental Alliance, the Royal League aims for largely the same goals as those of the alliance it was designed to replace. Notably, the League also hopes to stop the rise of Aequalism and Representativism globally, leading them to several conflicts with the Union of Lanzarote and the Confederacy of Independent Nations.

The Royal League was originally the creation of the Karelian Elders Council in 1815, as it became clear that the Continental Alliance’s key members were heading in different directions. Queen Frida IX would ultimately bring the Karelian states together in 1819 to sign a treaty that created the League. Attempts to expand the League beyond the Karelian states have been difficult, with many nations showing reluctance. Mayayore and Imania have been the only exception to this.

The League, in its current form, allows Karelia to intervene in the affairs of its middle and minor power neighbours, should they be invaded or suffer from an insurrection. It also adds a small but worthwhile manpower boost to the Karelian Imperial Army, as most of the Royal League members have willingly placed their military under the control of the Karelian Imperial Army or KIA.

Members

Duchy of Cambria 

During the Black Rebellion, The kingdom of Karelia was facing revolts and uprisings throughout the east of the empire. Cambria refused to revolt, stayed loyal to the crown. Logistics and pressure, both external and internal, ultimately made it impossible for the province to stay within Karelia. In 1751, Cambria peacefully left the kingdom. The two nations maintain excellent relations, with Karelia defending the nation and protecting its borders. During the Great War, Cambria made safe haven for the retreating Nordvestian Army and nobility, despite remaining neutral for most of the war. Ultimately, these Nordvestian refugees would come to outnumber the countries small population. The full outcome of this drastic population increase is not yet known.

Kingdom of Coven

Coven is a former state of Nordvest, and where the former Nordvestian army made its last stand against the Dominion. With the intervention of Arcean forces , Coven was saved and did not face occupation throughout the Great War. After the war, the military leaders of Nordvest failed to convince the world to give back their former lands, instead they agreed to stay in Coven. At first, Coven had been hostile to Karelia, as they had claimed their home country. Ultimately Coven was forced to join Karelia’s Royal League, as they feared the other nations around the Alwenactha Sea

Duchy of Cordellia 

During the Black Rebellion, Cordellia was a part of  the Nordvestian rebellion.It would ultimately leave Nordvest, and seek reunification with Karelia in 1721, but to no avail. Up until the Great War, Cordellia and Karelia made attempts at reunification. When the war began, however, Cordellia remained neutral from fear of occupation. During the last parts of the war, Cordellia had no choice but to ally up with Karelia as the war against the Dominion reached their borders. Modern Cordellia has no army, with men and woman who wish to fight for their country usually joining the KIA.

Commonwealth of Imania

Imania was a holding of Ephesus claimed in 1617 during the chaos of the Tri-State rebellion. By 1720, Ephesian control was beginning to slip as public protests became increasingly common from espionage from rival displeased nations. Ephesus was eventually ordered to relinquish control of the territory which was oversaw by the superpowers at the time, with the Shirudo sending troops to assist the Imanians leave Ephesus. To this day Imania and the Shirudo have great relations. Imania was neutral in the great war, but allowed the Shirudo to use their ports and infrastructure. They had feared Karelia would take revenge against them for their support of the Shirudo, but were surprised when Queen Frida IX offered them a seat in the royal league, which they immediately accepted.

Republic of Mayayore

Myayore is a small Republic located on the banks of Southern Arrow Lake and a protectorate of the Kingdom of Corinth. Myayore was originally one of the many Ghurrkan tribes that roamed the Pangaea Desert, but unlike the others they decided to settle down after the continental powers began to crack down on them alongside pirates in the late 1600’s.

Mayayore views Scarabeen as an existential threat, and aims to one day destroy the Shirudan backed state. With Karelia behind them, it’s likely that this may one day occur.
